Citroën ë-C3 is an affordable electric car larger than its size category.

Now there is an electric car in the price range where it has been needed. The Citroën ë-C3 in the picture costs only 25,290 euros with the You equipment that starts the price list. It is thus the cheapest new electric car in Finland.
And it is by no means an unhappy case, although some compromises have to be accepted.
The competition begins
The French brand Citroën just had time to get the ë-C3, dubbed Europe’s cheapest electric car, to the Car of the Year in Finland 2025 test drive day in Järvenpää on Thursday, November 14.
Iltalehti was the first media to pick up the keys in the morning, and no other journalist was in the car yet had time to drive on the roads of Finland.

Positive feelings
During the short run, the highway and higher speeds were still untested, but the first impressions are still positive. Read below Iltalehti’s first test run from abroad. Also read

The durable coating does not echo harshly in the ears and the vibrations are not transmitted to the steering wheel. In fact, the platform even works with a heightened sophistication and pleasantness.
The power is not great, but it has never been in small cars before. This will do too.
The evaluation of the operating range will also be left to a longer test drive, but 44 kilowatt hours is plenty for city driving.
Similarly, the fast charging power is sufficient for this car – although the winter capability will have to be tested in time. Home charging is standard single-phase, but a three-phase charger can be clicked from the accessories list.

Note the trade-offs
Stepping into the cockpit, you will immediately notice the reduced standard equipment. The You equipment level, which starts the price list, has no infotainment system at all. It will be replaced with your own phone.
For that, there is also the brand’s own application designed for car use. The phone always stays updated, so the solution is not necessarily a fool’s errand.
Soon you will notice more savings. The key is a traditional model and must be turned in the ignition, even if it is an electric car.
You look for heating of the front seats in vain, because there is none. However, the importer is still investigating the possibility of retrofitting.
The rear windows are operated manually with levers, i.e. they are so-called friction electric windows. You rarely see something like this in a new car.
There is more space than you might think, as four adults can fit into the car and there is still a good 300 liters of luggage space.

More available
Higher requirements lead to the Max equipment, which, in addition to seat heaters, brings, among other things, a heated steering wheel and windshield, automatic air conditioning, electric windows also at the back, inch-larger alloy wheels, comfort seats and, perhaps most importantly, an infotainment system with navigation and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
Preheating the cabin with a phone app may be equally important for some.
In that case, the price rises to 30,000 euros.
In any case, the novelty of the French brand offers a lot of value for money and very low mileage costs. This makes sense.

The novelty is really attractive and the driving experience is more convincing than the standard equipment list. Henri Posa
